BONDURANT, Iowa — Several Bondurant small businesses came together to help people get their New Year’s resolutions underway.
BrickHouse Fitness hosted the event at their gym and brought together eight Bondurant businesses to help educate people about healthy lifestyles.
“Our main goal is to get the Bondurant health and fitness industry businesses in our door and connect the community with them, we are here to start the new year off right, so trying to get as many people in as we can,” said Kaylin Vonahne, the marketing director for BrickHouse Fitness.
Lots of people make the New Year’s resolution to live a healthier life, but it’s a daunting task and many fall short within the first few weeks. Vonahne says these events help build support.
“So, the New Year is obviously a motivating time for a lot of people,” said Vonahne. “We’re just trying to help people out with that as much as possible, trying to help this build confidence.”
Bondurant chiropractors, physical therapists, gyms, nutritionists, and even personal spa services showed up hoping to help people look and feel their best.
Local businesses were excited for a chance to get in touch with people and help make it as easy as possible.
“Anything that we can do to help the community be healthy, we like to connect with the community and work with them,” said Melissa Merrifield the marketing director for Exemplar Care. “What a great way to start the New Year off being in the local community gym.”
Those who attended also said it was nice to learn more about local businesses and support their community while also working on reaching their goals.
“I came here today to check out the fitness and wellness stuff in local Bondurant,” said Rob Finnegan, a resident. “I have goals, not New Year’s resolutions. New Year, same me. Since I do have goals, I wanted to see what they have here for me.”
BrickHouse Fitness hopes that people won’t be frightened by the daunting task of joining the workout world and encourages everyone to go out and give healthy living a try.
