DES MOINES, Iowa — A woman was rescued from a pond at Water Works Park Friday afternoon.
At around 4:30 p.m. the Des Moines Fire Department Wet Rescue team was called to Water Works Park on a report of someone in a pond. When first responders arrived they found a woman standing on the ice of the pond just north of Izaak Walton League.
According to Des Moines Police, while members of the rescue team slid out onto the ice to grab the woman, the ice broke beneath her and she fell in. The rescue team was able to rescue her from the water. Police said the woman has been transported to a hospital. Her condition has not been released.
