POWESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa — One person is dead and four are injured following a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 in Poweshiek County.
According to the Iowa State Patrol at approximately 5:21 p.m. a multi-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 80 near mile marker 194.
According to the report a van was traveling in the eastbound lines when it was rear-ended by a car. The van went through the median and into oncoming westbound traffic where it collided with another car.
The driver of the van in the westbound lanes, Jerson Almendares, 22, was transported to the hospital with injuries.
Jeremy Armstrong, 43, the driver of the car in the westbound lanes was transported to the hospital with injures.
Edblin Sanchezcruz, 34, and Josis Sanchezcruz, 39, were also transported to the hospital with injuries.
The driver of the vehicle in the westbound lanes was killed. The name is being withheld.
