Red Kettle ends, Salvation Army still seeking donations

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Red Kettle campaign has come to a close for the year, but the Salvation Army is still seeking donations to reach their 2024 goal.

This year the Salvation Army is looking to raise $1.2 million to continue their work helping central Iowa families in need.

In 2024 the Salvation Army Command Office, Mobile Social Service Unit, and Corps Locations helped 159 households with rent, 68 with utilities, fed 1,036 families with their food pantries, and provided 856 families with gifts during the holidays.

People who wish to donate are still able to do so through January 31st. Donations can either be mailed to The Salvation Army, PO Box 933, Des Moines, IA  50304 or made online through the Salvation Army website.

The Salvation Army released the final numbers for several Iowa locations.

  • Ames raised $68,565 of their $61,287 kettle goal; and $132,820 of their 125,632 overall goal.
  • Marshalltown Corps raised $47,500 of the $55,00 kettle goal; and $125,000 of the overall goal of $191,000.
  • Newton raised $42,731 of their $40,000 kettle goal; and $138,676 of their overall $128,700 goal.
