CARLISLE, Iowa — Carlisle residents will have more opportunities to take to the ice as the Iowa Wild announces its 12th community ice rink through the community rinks program.
The rinks are open to all and are free, helping make ice skating and hockey more accessible to people throughout Iowa.
“Ice time is expensive, and for a family that just wants to introduce their young child to hockey or to figure skate, having to spend money on ice time can be really difficult and an expense nobody wants to spend,” said Ben Gislason, Director of Broadcasting for the Iowa Wild.
The Iowa Wild unveiled its first community rink in December of 2016, and now the rinks have reached far beyond the metro.
“We’ve seen [the program] go from here in Des Moines communities and now continuing to branch out further and further. It’s just an opportunity for people to put skates on and get out on the rink,” Gislason said.
