DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is investigating after a body was found deceased along the Des Moines River.

According to police, around 2:19 p.m. officers responded to the west banks of the Des Moines River, north of Interstate 235, on reports of a deceased person near the water.

Officers arrived on scene and confirmed the discovery of a deceased person, who officers believe to be an adult male.

According to police there are no obvious indications of criminal action that contributed to the death or danger to the neighborhood.

Police advise people to expect an increased first responder presence in the area as the investigation progresses.
