WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — An event to benefit needy families is handing out hams Thursday in West Des Moines.
First responders, West Des Moines city staff, and volunteers will give out 300 free hams as part of Hy-Vee’s annual Hams for the Holidays campaign. The event is being held at 1701 Railroad Avenue between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., while supplies last.
During this year’s Hams for the Holidays effort, free hams were also distributed in Iowa communities Davenport, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Mount Pleasant, Storm Lake, West Des Moines, and Mason City.
This is the seventh year for Hams for the Holidays, which is a partnership with Hormel Foods.
