PLEASANTVILLE, Iowa — One person was injured, and one pet is dead following a Pleasantville house fire on Thursday afternoon.

According to Pleasantville Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Mark Clifton, around 6:45 p.m. they responded to 907 Linden Street on reports of a house fire with flames coming from the kitchen.

The engine first on the scene was able to get the fire mostly extinguished by the time the second engine had arrived.

The homeowner had returned to find their kitchen on fire and sustained a minor hand injury that did not require medical transport. Nobody else was injured, one pet is dead.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.

The Fire Department warns that due to excess water on the roads, drivers in the surrounding area should be cautious of slick conditions.
