DES MOINES, Iowa — Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has pardoned two turkeys named after the state’s famous basketball star Caitlin Clark.
The turkeys, Caitlin and Clark, were pardoned from the Thanksgiving dinner table on Tuesday morning at Terrace Hill.
Gov. Reynolds, First Gentlemen Kevin Reynolds, their youngest granddaughter, and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig were all at the event.
The turkeys are from the Iowa Turkey Federation, and the federation’s President Brad Moline was in attendance along with other leaders of the organization.
Governors in Iowa have been pardoning turkeys to mark the Thanksgiving holiday since 1989.
