Lows dropped below freezing in parts of northwest Iowa this morning, where they had less cloud cover. As seen in the second image, it’s been a cooler day, but still a mild one with temperatures above average for this time of year.


Your weather timeline takes you into a wet and windy day on Monday:

Rain looks to move into southern Iowa early and into central Iowa during the morning drive. We’ll see those windy conditions and showers and thunderstorms into the late evening hours. Rainfall estimates by Tuesday can be seen in the second image… we’ve got a soaker on the way.




The windiest conditions will come Monday evening, but breezy weather sticks around on Tuesday and Wednesday.


The upper-level part of our upcoming system passes over the state on Wednesday, bringing the possibility of flurries or even some light snow in spots.

Highs for the next six days are below. Note that we may finally see a hard freeze in Des Moines on Friday or Saturday morning. This is not the latest hard freeze we’ve seen, as the record was set 11/26/2009.
