HAMILTON COUNTY, Iowa — The name of the person killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Hamilton County Friday morning has been released.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, at around 6:30 a.m. three vehicles were traveling northbound on Highway 69, just north of Blairsburg between 180th Street and 190th Street. Cole Lantz, 27, was driving a Jeep Renegade and entered the southbound lane in an attempt to pass the vehicle in front of him. While in the southbound lane, he crashed head-on into a Dodge Ram 2500.
A Cascadia Semi was traveling southbound on Highway 69, behind the Dodge Ram, when the collision occurred, an ISP crash report states. The semi swerved toward the center line to avoid the crash, but struck the Dodge Ram. A fourth vehicle was involved and lightly struck Lantz’s Jeep.
According to the crash report, Lantz died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Dodge Ram and a passenger were injured and transported to a nearby hospital.
