Forecast: Slight weekend rain chances, better chance Monday

We have a gorgeous November Friday in progress, and mild weather will continue into the weekend as shown in the weather timeline below.

We could see a few spotty showers and storms pop up late afternoon Saturday ahead of a cold front moving into Iowa. It will be a breezy day, with gusts to 35mph+ possible:

It’s possible you could see rain in Ames (mainly in the plain) during that timeframe, but if it does rain it won’t last long, and amounts will be light.

On Sunday, a cold front passes into the state and stalls over southern Iowa. We could see a few light showers in the south Sunday afternoon.

A strong area of low pressure moves across the state Monday into early Tuesday. This will bring another soaking rain and breezy conditions to the state.

Below, the European model’s estimated rainfall amounts through midday Tuesday:

Highs the next six days can be found in the gallery below:

For the first time in a while, the 6-to-10 and 8-to-14-day outlooks show below average temperatures as we round out November.
