Authorities respond to reported threat at South Hamilton High School

JEWELL, IOWA — Authorities in Hamilton County are on the scene of a reported threat at South Hamilton High School in Jewell.

WHO 13 spoke to a parent who has children at South Hamilton Elementary School. They say they received a message from the school district around 2:00 pm warning of a “potential safety threat” and that a lockdown was being initiated, but there was “no ongoing threat.”

There is reportedly a heavy police presence at the school. There are no confirmed reports of any injuries or arrests at this time. This is a developing situation.
