CAMBRIDGE, Iowa — Center Grove Orchard finished out their fall season with a weekend of pumpkin crushing fun of several varieties.
Throughout the day pumpkin games like bash’em and smash’em, pumpkin croquet, pumpkin bowling and pumpkin tic-tac-toe were available. There was also a pumpkin pie eating contest and specialty fall funnel cakes available.
Center Grove brought out the big machines for some extra fun on Saturday. A tractor drove over large mounds of pumpkins during the Big Tractor Smash and later pumpkins were hoisted into the air for the Pumpkin Crane Drop.
Deanna Black is the Director of Fun at Center Grove Orchard and says it’s more than just a good way to get some love out of their final pumpkins.
“It’s a fun way, especially with Bash’em and Smash’em, people like to break things. It’s a healthy way to break things and relieve some stress,” said Black.
The end of the fall season means the end of fall fun, but Center Grove is already preparing for their next event. Their Winter Wonderland will open at the end of November and continue through December 23rd.
The Winter Wonderland hosts a variety of activities such as gingerbread cookie decorating, u-build bears, meet and greets with Santa, horse drawn carriages, and other holiday games. To learn more about the Winter Wonderland celebrations visit their website.
