DES MOINES, Iowa — You can help girls and young women in central Iowa just by buying books.
The Young Women’s Resource Center Book Sale is coming up later this week. Proceeds go to help the organization with three primary programs: counseling for mental and emotional health services, empowerment for fifth through 12th graders, and supporting young moms.
“The cross-section of all of those programs is making sure that the young women in our community are well enough, both socially, physically, emotionally, that they can make decisions for themselves, that they can make decisions for them, for their families, and they can set goals and achieve them so that they’re living the lives they aspire to live,” said Rachel Woodhouse, Executive Director of the Young Women’s Resource Center.
The Young Women’s Resource Center Book Sale starts Thursday, November 6th, and runs through Sunday, the 9th at the Elwell Family Food Center of the Iowa State Fairgrounds. More information and presale tickets are available at https://ywrc.org/events/booksale/.
