DES MOINES, Iowa — Police are investigating after a man was hospitalized following a stabbing Monday morning in Des Moines.
Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer of the Des Moines Police Department, said officers responded just after 7:00 a.m. to MercyOn-Des Moines after learning a stabbing victim had transported themself to the hospital. The 55-year-old male who was stabbed remains hospitalized, but is expected to survive.
Investigators learned the stabbing happened in an alley behind 1310 6th Avenue, and the scene was processed for evidence.
Sgt. Parizek said the preliminary investigation indicates the stabbing was the result of an altercation between two people.
No arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation into the incident continues.
