Osceola man arrested in Waukee park with alleged drugs and gun

WAUKEE, Iowa — The Waukee Police Department arrested an Osceola man for allegedly illegally possessing drugs and gun in a Waukee park on Friday.

The Waukee Police Department states in a criminal complaint that officers were called to a suspicious vehicle at Fox Creek Park, located at 522 NE Westgate Drive in Waukee, just before 2 a.m. on Friday.

Court records state a group of men and women were by the park bathrooms and spoke with police briefly. According to court records, during the discussion police noticed a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the immediate area around the individuals.

Criminal complaints say that when a member of the group was asked to stand up, two males took off running from the group. A short chase ensued during which one of the males was caught by authorities, according to court records.

Waukee police officers arrested 18-year-old Killiam Hicks of Osceola, Iowa. According to criminal complaints, at the time of the arrest Hicks was found with a gun, drugs, and drug related paraphernalia on his person. Hicks has been charged with:

  • Possession of Controlled Substance
  • Persons Ineligible to Carry Dangerous Weapons
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Interfere with Officials Acts- Dangerous Weapons

Hicks is being held at the Dallas County Jail on a $7,000 cash bond. Court records show Hicks is scheduled to appear in court in early November.
