More music: Hinterland festival expanding to 4 days

ST. CHARLES, Iowa — The wildly popular Hinterland Music Festival is expanding in 2026, adding another day.

Festival organizers made the announcement Thursday afternoon, saying the 11th edition of the festival will be held between Thursday, July 30th, through Sunday, August 2nd. Hinterland will also be using a new ticket purchasing system, Fair AXS, designed to make sure tickets aren’t all bought up by bots and resold for higher prices. Hinterland is the first music festival using the system.

Fans can register at hinterlandiowa.com starting October 23rd until Sunday, October 26th at 10:00 p.m. to get access to purchase four-day passes through Fair AXS at the lowest price. Fans selected will receive an email to buy tickets between November 3-4. Organizers say an invitation only provides the opportunity to buy tickets, it doesn’t guarantee tickets will be available — they’ll be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

There are several different ticket tiers that will be available:

  • 4-Day General Admission: $295
  • 4-Day General Admission+: $480
  • 4-Day VIP: $835

Those prices are for the early access to tickets. Hinterland’s website lists four more tiers of ticket sales, with the final tier at $440. The GA+ has three tiers with the final tier at $545 and the VIP has only one other tier at $910 prices. Dates were not released on the website as to the timing of when those other tier tickets will be released.

Hinterland said that festival tickets for 2026 will be even less than last year’s three-day tickets, with service fees included.

Camping parking information is also available on the Hinterland ticket website.

The musical acts performing at the festival have not been revealed but Hinterland says that information is coming soon.
