Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer of the Des Moines Police Department, said the arrest was linked to an October 15th shooting. A fight happened inside a business at 3725 Hubbell Avenue shortly after 2:30 a.m., and after those involved separated, two men left the building.

Botts is seen on surveillance video going to his car and retrieving a handgun. He then approached the two men and fired at them. Criminal complaints filed in the case say he fired two shots, but they missed.

Police discovered shell casings near the scene.

The criminal complaint said Botts admitted to shooting at the victims.

Detectives tracked Botts down on Wednesday, and he was taken into custody at a residence near E. 29th Street and Madison Avenue without incident.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Botts on November 3rd.
