Iowa Forecast: Blustery Tuesday ahead

DES MOINES, Iowa — It was a breezy day, but a rehearsal for what’s to come tomorrow. Peak wind gusts are below. Most of these were a product of the warm, southerly flow we had over the state today. The northwesterly gusts out west were the product of a cold front which brought rain to the state today and will help produce a cooler Tuesday.

We managed to warm up over Sunday today, before the aforementioned front began to pull temps down. Your weather timeline takes you through a windy, cooler Tuesday.

A wind advisory will be in effect for northern Iowa for part of the day tomorrow. Gusts will exceed 40mph at times, and a few light showers are possible.

The rest of the work week through Friday looks mild and dry. Rain chances start to increase Sunday, and do so in earnest next Monday.

Upcoming highs are in the slideshow above, and your 7-day forecasts below.

Next week looks interesting as a big area of low pressure will park itself over our neck of the woods, bringing clouds and breezy conditions and rain chances. We’ll also need to watch for snowflakes, but perhaps to our north.
