DES MOINES, Iowa — Urban Dreams hosted it’s 10th annual pre-winter community car checkup on Saturday, offering free services to the community ahead of winter.
The event took place Saturday morning with cars lining the roads to get their cars checked free of charge before the winter months hit. It is hosted by Urban Dreams in partnership with Ascendance Trucks.
The services provided for car maintenance included tire air pressure checks, topping off fluids, windshield wiper blade replacements, exterior lights change and overall safety checks for the car.
The event started 10 years ago as a way to make sure people’s vehicles were ready to handle often harsh Iowa winters and has only grown since it started. Now, the organizers describe the event as an overall safety checkup, helping more than just your car.
People can bring in car seats if their kids had outgrown the one that they currently had, and parents could get a new car seat free of charge. Vaccinations for the flu and other virus’s were also being offered.
