GREENE COUNTY, Iowa — A 76-year-old man was seriously injured when he became trapped under his tractor after it rolled into a ditch on Thursday.
Greene County Sheriff Jack Williams said that at around 12:01 p.m. Greene County Ambulance, Jefferson Fire and Churdan Fire and Rescue were called to the intersection of L Avenue and 150th Street in rural Greene County, north of Jefferson, on a report of a man who was trapped under a tractor.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the man still trapped under a small tractor. Sheriff Williams said the tractor was lifted off the victim, who was then taken to a Des Moines hospital via air ambulance with serious injuries.
Sheriff Williams said that it appears the man drove the tractor too close to the ditch, which caused it to roll.
