VAN METER, Iowa — A construction worker died after being injured at the Van Meter School District campus on Tuesday.
According to an email from the district sent to Van Meter staff and families, on Tuesday afternoon a construction worker was involved in an accident at the school campus and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The district’s email says in part, “Out of respect for the individual’s privacy, we cannot share further details at this time. We wanted to make our families and staff aware of this incident. Please join us in keeping the worker and his loved ones in our thoughts.”
Van Meter Police Chief Michael Brown later released a statement about the accident, saying that the construction worker had succumbed to his injuries.
“It is with a great deal of sadness that we share that a construction worker who was injured on the campus of the Van Meter School District has passed away.”
No information about what the accident entailed has been released. Chief Brown said that more information will be released when made available.
