Forecast: Windy weekend, then rain moves in

DES MOINES, Iowa — Another day, more warm and dry conditions, which were very similar to Thursday’s. But we have some new things coming as we head through the next few days. Finally. This meteorology thing was getting boring.

Lows Friday night will again be mild. Winds will pick up this weekend ahead of a system to the west that will bring a cold front through on Monday. Gusts could exceed 30 mph both Saturday and Sunday.

As the front approaches, rain chances start to increase late Sunday afternoon. Those chances will linger into Tuesday morning in southeast Iowa. Some areas could see an inch of rain or more.

Highs (seen above) start out warm and end up cool, as seen in the seven-day forecasts below. Even with the cooling trend, much of October looks to bring us above-normal temperatures.
