DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department say they were able to apprehend the fleeing suspect in a Des Moines bank robbery within 15 minutes.
According to the DMPD, just after 12 p.m. on Friday dispatch received a 911 call from someone in the drive-thru at First Class Community Credit Union, located along Euclid Avenue, who told police they believed there was a robbery in progress inside the bank.
Bank staff confirmed with responding officers that a robbery had occurred and provided a description of the suspect.
An officer responding to the scene spotted a vehicle being driven erratically and then parking in a lot in the 2700 block of Douglas Avenue. Police say the driver abandoned the vehicle and was later located hiding in a closet in the same area.
28-year-old Low Kong Choul was arrested without incident and has been charged with:
- Robbery – 2nd Degree
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Providing False Identification Information
Choul is being held at the Polk County Jail on a $50,000 bond. The Des Moines Police Departments says an investigation into this incident is ongoing.
