DES MOINES, Iowa — A large law enforcement presence was visible at a southeast Des Moines mobile home park Friday morning, and at least one person was taken into custody.
Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer for the Des Moines Police Department, confirmed to WHO 13 that there were federal agents in the area of Ewing Trace Mobile Home Park at 4201 Windsor Place.
The entrance to the mobile home park was blocked off by an Iowa State Patrol Trooper for a few hours before multiple ISP vehicles and unmarked law enforcement vehicles left the area.
WHO 13 spoke with Taylor Willis, a resident of the mobile home park, who said a neighbor called her at 8:45 a.m. and told her not to let her dogs out because there’s something happening. Willis said while she was in her bedroom, she heard, “Come out with your hands up.”
Willis saw Troopers and other law enforcement fill up the road with vehicles and saw a K-9 searching the area.
Another neighbor said she saw a Des Moines Public Schools Public Safety vehicle and an unmarked vehicle parked on her lawn during the incident.
We’ve reached out to the Department of Homeland Security’s local field office and the Iowa State Patrol for more information on this incident, but have not received responses.
