ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Minnesota — An Iowa man was rescued from a Minnesota wilderness area on Tuesday after suffering an ax injury.
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office said that at around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday Global Rescue, a company specializing in crisis response, medical evacuation, and security evacuation, reported to them that it had received a SOS notification from the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, located in northeast Minnesota, just west of Lake Superior.
It was later learned that a man, identified as a Davenport, Iowa area resident, had cut his leg with an ax and that a tourniquet and bandaging had been used to stop the bleeding, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office rescue squad, along with several other agencies, were able to rescue the man, who was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
