First Day of Fall will be more summerlike in Iowa

Fall begins at 1:19 this afternoon and it will be feeling more like summer. Temperatures will be about 5 to 10 degrees above the average for September 22nd.

Another summer-like round of storms will also be possible late tonight through Tuesday morning. There is a slight risk for a few storms to be severe. A few storms could produce hail and damaging winds in north central to northwest and western Iowa.

The storms will develop in northern and then northwestern Iowa through the night. The wind threat is higher in northern Iowa, with a hail, wind, and isolated tornado threat in western Iowa.

Rain and storms will linger along the I-80 corridor southward through the day on Tuesday. Temperatures will be lower and seasonal through the middle of the week. There will be a return to warm and sunny weather for the weekend.
