Forecast: Temps and wind speeds rise, rain falls

We’ve warmed up a bit more Sunday as winds begin to increase. We’ll see even stronger winds Monday and, especially Tuesday.

Wind gusts will likely reach 35mph on Monday, with gusts over 40mph to near 50mph possible on Tuesday. These winds will usher in warmer temperatures.

The first of three rain chances during the next week arrives Wednesday as a cold front and upper-level disturbance move across Iowa. Highs will be set early in the day Wednesday as windy conditions linger into the morning hours. Another system will bring us rain chances for the weekend. A second cold front moves through on Sunday.

Colorado State University’s severe weather algorithm does give slight chances for stronger storms Tuesday night into Wednesday, with hail being the likely main threat. We’ll continue to monitor.

Our trio of rain chances could bring good rain totals to the state by next Sunday!
