4 more arrested in Marshalltown park robbery and shooting that injured 2

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — On Friday the Marshalltown Police Department announced that more arrests have been made in connection to a robbery and subsequent shooting that injured two people.

On August 26, The MPD was notified of a patient who showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim told detectives that the shooting had occurred at Nicholson Ford Park, located in the 1800 block of Marion Street. Detectives also learned that there was a second victim who had been hit in the head with a handgun and that both victims had been robbed.

Shortly after the shooting officers arrested 19-year-old Nicholas Lee Olivares in connection to the robbery and shooting. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail on several charges, including attempted murder and two counts of first-degree robbery. According to court records, Olivares’ case is scheduled go to a jury trial on November 4.

On Friday, the MPD announced four additional arrests had been made in the incident — 18-year-old Kinnick Youngblut, 18-year-old Gavin Jebe, and two juveniles. Police said the two unidentified juveniles have been charged as adults in the case. All are facing charges of first-degree robbery.
