WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Police in West Des Moines say there is no active threat after they were called to Valley Southwoods High School at 625 S. 35th Street on Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Dan Wade, Public Information Officer for the West Des Moines Police Department, said police responded to the school around 10:42 a.m. after students and faculty were evacuated from the school following an alarm being set off. Sgt. Wade said the evacuation was done with an abundance of caution.
An incident command post was established by the police, and WDMPD worked with the school’s administration to secure the building. All students were accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.
Sgt. Wade said there is a heavy police presence at the school, which will remain until the scene is released.
