JOHNSTON, Iowa — The City of Johnston is considering changing the night of Beggars’ Night.
On Friday the city sent out a survey asking residents when they’d like to see Beggars’ Night celebrated, particularly if they’d rather celebrate on the Saturday before Halloween. If approved the change would begin in 2025.
Several Des Moines metro communities have already changed their Beggars’ Night to Saturday. The reason for the change has ranged from the appeal of it not being on a school night and it allowing parents and guardians more time to get their kids ready to go Trick-or-Treating.
The survey will be open until November 15 and can be found on the city’s website.
