Search warrant results in multiple felony charges for Kellogg man

KELLOGG, Iowa — The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says a search warrant executed on Thursday resulted in several felony charges for a Kellogg man.

The Jasper County SO say deputies, along with assistance from the Central Iowa Regional Tactical Team and the Mid Iowa Narcotics Task Force, executed a search warrant Thursday just before 6:40 a.m. at a residence in the 600 block of Depot Street.

Authorities obtained the search warrant after friends and family reported that the resident of the home was a felon is possession of firearms and provided authorities with photos of the residents handlings the weapons, according to court documents.

During the search, deputies recovered fire arms and controlled substance which resulted in the arrest of 59-year-old Thomas Frances Wilkinson who was charged with,

  • Control of a Firearm as a Felon – Class D Felony
  • Possession of a Short Barrel Shotgun – Class D Felony
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Domestic Abuser – Class D Felony
  • Persons’ Ineligible to Carry Firearms – Serious Misdemeanor
  • 3 counts of Possession of Marijuana , 1st Offense – Serious Misdemeanor
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia – Simple Misdemeanor

Court records state that the weapons Wilkinson was seen holding in the photos presented to authorities by friends and family were recovered during the execution of the search warrant.

Wilkinson was taken to the Jasper County Jail and is being held on a $31,000 bond.
