OTTUMWA, Iowa — The Ottumwa Police Department have made an arrest after they say gunfire was exchanged on Thursday.
According to Ottumwa PD, around 12:30 p.m., Wapello County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Ottumwa PD officers were called to the 300 block of North Sheridan Avenue after deputies in the area heard gunfire.
Authorities say a vehicle had fled the scene of the shooting and deputies were able to perform a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Moore Street.
41-year-old Chad Levi Forrester was arrested and charged with:
- Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
- Going Armed with Intent
- Reckless use of a Firearm
Forrester is being held at the Wapello County Jail. No bail has been set at this time.
Officers with the Ottumwa PD determined that two individuals exchanged gunfire during the incident. No injuries related to this incident have been reported.
The Ottumwa Police Department says the investigation, with assistance from the Wapello County Sheriff’s Office, is ongoing and additional charges are pending.
