Name of pedestrian killed after being hit by vehicle on I-80 in Madison County released

MADISON COUNTY, Iowa — The name of the pedestrian who was killed after being hit by a vehicle on Interstate 80 Thursday morning has been released.

At around 7:13 a.m. the Iowa State Patrol responded to a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on westbound I-80 near Dexter. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, two pedestrians were walking along I-80 when one of the pedestrians entered the travel lane and was hit by a 2020 Ford Transit cargo van.

The pedestrian who was hit has been identified as 45-year-old Mandy Wendland from Omaha, Nebraska. Wendland died from her injuries at the scene.

No additional information has been released.
