DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is investigating after one person was injured during a shooting in the River Bend Neighborhood.

According to the DMPD, just before 7:30 p.m., patrol officers and DMFD rescue personnel responded to a report of a shooting with a victim in the 100 block of University Avenue.

First responders arrived on scene and located an adult male who had sustained a gunshot injury. The man was transported to a Des Moines hospital, where care is ongoing; his condition is unknown.

Police say the scene is secure and there is no indication of ongoing danger to the neighborhood.

The Des Moines Police Department has opened an investigation into this incident.
