1 driver, 1 DMPD officer injured during collision on Des Moines’ east side

DES MOINES, Iowa — One driver and one Des Moines Police Department officer were taken to the hospital after a crash on the city’s east side.

According to the DMPD, a patrol officer was responding to a call of a domestic fight around 7:15 p.m., when it collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Delaware Avenue and East Euclid Avenue.

Both drivers sustained minor injuries during the collision and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the crash and are gathering witness statements and video recordings.
