11 dogs rescued from Pocahontas County home, camper covered in feces

POCAHONTAS COUNTY, Iowa — Eleven dogs were rescued from a home and camper on a Pocahontas County property that were reportedly covered in filth.

The Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL) announced on Tuesday that its Animal Welfare & Response Team assisted law enforcement with an animal neglect case in Pocahontas County.

According to the ARL, its rescue team discovered seven dogs inside a house and four dogs trapped in a bathroom of a camper. The ARL said the floors in both the house and the camper were covered in feces, urine, and other debris.

The dogs had varying health issues, including severe matting, hair loss, skin issues, and overgrown, curled nails. All of the dogs are in the care of the ARL and are being treated.

No additional information has been released.

Those who would like to donate to the ARL to help the rescued dogs and the other animals in the ARL’s care can do so on the shelter’s website.
