Creston man dies after high-speed chase ends with motorcycle crash

UNION COUNTY, Iowa — A Creston motorcyclist died Sunday following a pursuit involving the Iowa State Patrol.

A crash report from the ISP stated that shortly after 1:00 p.m., Creston Police Department officers tried to stop 55-year-old Tony Fizer for speeding on Highway 34 in Creston. He tried to get away from officers, heading east at a high rate of speed.

Just past Afton, Fizer lost control of his motorcycle while taking a curve near mile marker 94. The bike ran onto the shoulder and overturned. Fizer was thrown from the bike.

Fizer died from injuries received in the crash.

The Iowa State Patrol is continuing to investigate.
