ANKENY, Iowa — A Des Moines man was arrested on Monday after police say he tried to lure minors to secluded areas of an Ankeny skatepark over the weekend.
The Ankeny Police Department said that officers responded to the city skatepark on Sunday after receiving reports of a man making inappropriate comments and advances to minors. According to police, multiple minors told officers that the man, identified as Trenton L. Nelson, made
“inappropriate advances toward them and attempted to persuade them to go to secluded areas with him.”
On Monday, Ankeny police announced that Nelson had been arrested and charged with first-degree harassment in connection to the incident. Nelson was also charged with possession of a controlled substance – third or subsequent offense because methamphetamine was found on Nelson when he was taken into custody, according to police.
Nelson was also trespassed from the skatepark and the Miracle League Park in Ankeny, prohibiting him from visiting the locations in the future.
Ankeny police ask that anyone with information about this incident or potentially any other similar incidents with Nelson to contact the police department at (515)286-3333 ext. 5.
