ANKENY, Iowa — Authorities responded to a car fire along Interstate 35, north of Ankeny, Sunday afternoon.

According to Iowa511 cameras, a car was traveling southbound on Interstate 35, near mile marker 99, when it pulled onto the side of the road and became engulfed in flames just before 4:15 p.m.

Iowa511 cameras show fire crews arrived on the scene around 4:33 p.m. and began immediate efforts to knock down the flames. The flames were knocked out just before 4:40 p.m., with crews staying on scene to ensure complete extinguishment and investigate.

The condition of the driver is not known at this time. The fire caused a partial lane closure, but both lanes are now open.
