The heat has gone and the heavy rain is back in Iowa

DES MOINES, Iowa — A cold front moved through Iowa early Thursday. This triggered heavy rain and some strong wind gusts. The strongest winds hit Carroll County just after Midnight. The heaviest rain fell around Kossuth and Worth counties overnight. Bancroft measured as much as 5.5″. The Des Moines airport reported .62″ this morning.

Northern Iowa will be getting a rain break for the next couple of days. More heavy rain is possible in southern Iowa. A front is stalled out in northern Missouri, and this will continue to trigger more rain off and on south of I-80 through Saturday morning. A couple of inches of rain will be possible in a few spots.
