DES MOINES – Volunteer sign ups are now open for the 40th Annual Parks Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Chuck’s Restaurant. Every year the Parks Community provides thousands of thanksgiving dinners to families in need.
Hilary Whitfield, the President of the Parks Community Thanksgiving Dinner, said that the Parks Community still needs more volunteers.
“We already have 100 volunteers signed up, which fills about 40% of our spots. So we still have plenty of room for people to sign up. All different rarities that can be in the kitchen. I can be delivering that can be cleanup. Or if you can’t volunteer, we can’t accept Pies during the week are also through donations,” Whitfield said.
Whitfield also said there are options for people donate more than just their time.
“$7 pays for one meal. $7, you know, is very small amount compared to someone thinking, oh, I need to give $100,” Whitefield said.
