Residents invited to participate in Iowa bridge grant survey

The Iowa Department of Transportation is seeking public feedback on the state’s highway bridges as part of a competitive grant application process.

The U.S. Department of Transportation will award up to $250 million in grants to support critical infrastructure projects across the country. More than 20 counties, cities, and other state departments in Iowa are applying for the grant, which aims to rebuild 34 bridges in poor condition.

Counties involved in the application include Black Hawk, Buchanan, Emmet, Floyd, Guthrie, Hancock, Henry, Howard, Johnson, Keokuk, Kossuth, Marion, Page, Pocahontas, Pottawattamie, Poweshiek, Scott, Sioux, Webster, Woodbury, and Worth.

Residents of these counties are encouraged to participate in the survey to provide valuable insights and support the grant application process.

By gathering public feedback, the Iowa Department of Transportation hopes to secure funding to improve the condition of critical bridges, enhancing safety and infrastructure across the state.
