DES MOINES, Iowa — 50 marathons in a lifetime may seem like a tall order, well how about 50 marathons in each state, in one year?
Meet Wyatt Moss, a 22-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, who just finished the IMT Des Moines Marathon on Sunday, marking the 41st in a year. Moss was just in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, running in a marathon there as well.
His social media following has picked up over the last several months, with one message he likes to share with his followers.
“Just live the greatest ever, every day. That’s the message I’ve been trying to promote, like on the videos I’ve been making all year….if I want to live a great life, then I have to live the greatest day today,” said Moss.
His first marathon was back in January this year, and with only 9 more to go he is counting down the days and weeks, finishing up in Hawaii for state number 50.
As his videos have gained more views, Moss has gained more fans in real life coming to see him race in their city or noticing him from the internet.
“Des Moines was incredible, I mean, the people were incredible along the way. I think everyone liked the outfit that I had so that was good,” said Moss as he referenced his flannel, jean shorts, and cowboy hat. “…but to finally see the songs of like well it’s actually working out, you know, it’s actually possible. That’s been cool. It’s a positive feedback loop that I have.”
From sleeping in airports, public parks, and rental cars, this year has been full of experiences for Moss. He is in year three of taking on a new challenge every year to live the fullest life he possibly can, so as he runs out this year’s challenge, there will be a lot of time to think about what he is going to tackle in 2025.
