Passenger killed when vehicle pulls out in front of semi in Buena Vista County, ISP says

BUENA VISTA COUNTY, Iowa — One person was killed Monday morning in a crash involving a semi in Buena Vista County.

Shortly before 10 a.m., the Iowa State Patrol responded to a crash involving a Subaru Outback and a semi near the 4500 block of Highway M27, also known as 20th Avenue, northwest of Storm Lake. According to an ISP crash report, the Subaru was traveling northbound on Highway M27 and attempted to turn left into a parking lot but failed to yield to a southbound semi. The crash report states that the semi collided with the right side of the Subaru.

The driver of the Subaru, identified as a 37-year-old, and three juvenile passengers were all injured in the collision and were transported to various nearby hospitals, the crash report states. Their conditions have not been released. The front passenger of the Subaru, identified as 42-year-old Coree Keller, died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the semi was not injured.
