DES MOINES, Iowa — A unique 5K gave runners the opportunity to cross home plate at Principal Park on Sunday morning.
“It’s the inaugural year here for the Cubbie Bear 5K and kids run,” said Laura Jass, who ran the race. “We’ve got about 500 athletes taking on the 5K, and it’s an exciting, great day for a run at Principal Park.
The runners took of outside the stadium running a course through downtown Des Moines and finishing with a cross over home plate. Runners went home with a medal, hot dog, and picture with Cubbie Bear.
