WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The West Des Moines Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire on Friday evening.

The West Des Moines Police and Fire Department were called to Ashworth Road and Seventh Street just before 9 p.m. on reports of a structure fire.

WDM Fire says the homeowner located the fire inside their home, called authorities, and then exited the home. No others were present.

Crews arrived on scene and located heavy smoke coming from the rear part of the home. After setting up a line, firefighters were able to contain the flames within 30 minutes of arrival.

Authorities say crews were able to contain the fire to the original room, with smoke dispersed throughout the rest of the home. No injuries have been reported.

The West Des Moines Fire Department has opened an investigation into the cause of the fire.
