ALTOONA, Iowa — A child was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a near-drowning incident at an Altoona pool.
According to the Altoona Fire Department, at around 4:52 p.m. personnel with the department responded to the Altoona Aquatic Center on a report of an unresponsive three-year-old found in the pool. The fire department said that the child was in cardiac arrest and that lifeguards were able to resuscitate the child.
The fire department transported the child from the pool to a Des Moines hospital. The child’s condition is currently unknown.
