DES MOINES, Iowa –The Des Moines Police Department says one person has been hospitalized following a near-drowning at Gray’s Lake Park.

According to the DMPD, just after 4:30 p.m., DMPD and DMFD crews responded to reports of a CPR in progress at Gray’s Lake. 911 callers had reported that there was a potential drowning situation.

First responders arrived to find an adult female in critical condition. Lifesaving efforts continued as medics transported the patient to a Des Moines hospital, where lifesaving care is ongoing.

Authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident. There is no indication of ongoing danger to other park users.
